Which Part?

(Written May 20, 2009, at age 22.)

"which part of love do you love?"
the passion.
"which part of love do you hate?"
the sadness.

"which part of hate do you love?"
the passion.
"which part of hate do you hate?"
the sadness.

wherein lies the difference, then?
in actions alone?
because otherwise they feel the same.

i thought you could read this ... and think...
Invictus (Invincible) - William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishment the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Anonymous: Thank you! I'm sure I'd love to know your name, however :). So if you ever want to stop being Anonymous, do tell me.

Archangel: That was incredibly beautiful. Thank you for introducing me to that poem! A few lines of it will resonate with me.
